Aerodynamics - The Shape of Speed
Flash-Point wheels are born from the lessons learned while winning grand tours, world time trial championships and Ironman World Championships. And that speed is all yours to enjoy on each and every ride.
The secret to this speed is our parent-company's multi-patented “Hybrid-Torodial” rim shape. As you can see from the illustration, it's an evolution far beyond the standard “V” shaped rim other companies use and it further improves the rim's ability to recapture airflow pushed out of the way by the blunt shape of the tire. Regenerating the separated airflow coming off the tire reduces the aerodynamic drag of the wheels to squeeze that much more speed out of your engine - or, conversely, conserve that much more energy while maintaining your regular speed.
What's more, the bulge shape actually minimizes the wheel's sensitivity to cross winds so you gain the aerodynamic advantages of a deep-dish wheel without sacrificing handling in cross winds.
PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGIES
Speed, Quality, Value
If there's one mantra that holds true with Flash-Point, it's that limitations foster true creativity. In developing Flash-Point wheels we placed on our Zipp engineers, for the first time, the limitation of price. We told our crew to built the fastest, most durable wheel on the market but at the same price point other manufacturers were charging for their “opening price point” carbon wheels. The result is wheels with 6 distinct advantages over all the other wheels at the same price:
· USA-made Carbon Rim with stronger co-molded machined aluminum braking surface. Carbon performance, clincher convenience.
· VCLC vibration damping Comfort
· Tour de France winning Aerodynamic Rim Shape
· Anodized hubs with quick-release levers, compatible with Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo
· SAPIM spokes with alloy nipples 18F/20R
· True Hand-Built quality
