EMYVALE CC: Annual Dinner Dance

The club had a very enjoyable dinner and presentation night in the Westenra Arms Hotel Monaghan on Saturday night past with a very large turn out of youth and old pro cyclists having a thoroughly entertaining evening. Club chairman Paul Gormley was Master of ceremonies on the night and ably assisted by club secretary Michael McKenna.

Paul got the evening’s speeches off to a great start by delivering the accolades to all cyclists of the club and individuals in fine style. Paul welcomes our guest from, Fintona CC, Lakeland CC and a very special word for our sponsors for the year of 2006-2007 Martina and Francie Mc Quaid from Mc Quaid Tyres, Bridget and Martin Murphy from Murphy Agri-Hire, Bridie and Brendan Tierney from Tierney Motors, Anna and Fergus Murray Representing Universal-Graphics, and Town of Monaghan co-op. Cyclist been recognised for there success in 2007.

Peter McMahon Shield: The most improved cyclist of the year award and this went to Connor Connolly Connor is developing into a very strong cyclist and will no doubt will be a talent to watch in the coming years.

Patsy Brady Club Man of the year Presented by Francie McQuaid


Clubman of the Year: (Manchester Heritage Centre Trophy)

Clubman of the year went to the ever popular and every ready Patsy Brady. When there is work to be done Patsy is never to far away and his effective contribution to the club over 2007 was recognised with clubman of the year-So well-done Patsy.

The club would like to thank the Westenra Arms Hotel for providing the meal. Peader Mc Mahon photographs on the evening and Packie Mc Gee and family for providing his very own blend of music. Finally a big thanks to all the club members and guests who provided spot-prizes on the night and to the tickets sellers who all contribute to a great evening for the club

Reliability Run and Pedal For Pounds Fundraiser

Emyvale C.C are holding their annual Reliability Run on Sunday17th February, Sign-on is at 9am at the Community Centre Emyvale Departing 10am.The club has decided to take forward their Reliability Run to the 17th to facilitate a Pedal For Pounds Fundraiser event that club Cyclist Paul Hughes has organize. The Club will donate will donate all monies raised on the day to the said Charity.

The route is Emyvale, Monaghan, Middletown, Armagh, Killylea, Caledon, and Aughnacloy and back to Emyvale The Route is predominantly a flat course with a drag of about 1 mile out side of Armagh just before Killylea.Total Distance is 45 Miles. There is a shorter route planned of 10 miles for the underage and the beginner’s cyclists on the day.

Paul Hughes would like all club members to make the effort to participate in this event on the day. There will be refreshments and showers afterwards

Club Meeting
The Monthly Club Meeting will be held on Tuesday February 5th at 2100 hrs Sharp as usually in the High House Emyvale.The are a lot of topics to be discussed on the night.
