The recent successful Kellogs Tour of Ireland Charity Cycle Challenge has been rated as the best organised and highest rated event in Europe this year by one of Europe’s biggest and most prestigious cycling websites, www.cyclosport.co.uk.
This is great news for NCBI Blazing Saddles, who coordinated and directed the four-day challenge. Eamon Duffy, Tour Director welcomed the news, saying: “We are honoured and delighted to receive such an accolade. When you consider we top the table ahead of the Tour of Flanders, Nove Colli Marco Pantini in Italy, La Marmotte, Le Ventoux Beaumes de Venise and many other French and European cyclosportifs, it says a great deal about our Blazing Saddles support structure down the years. We hope our Giro di Giro tour in Italy with Sean Kelly in August will be equally successful and no doubt it will all going to plan!”
Over 200 cyclists came from all over Europe to tackle the Kellogs Tour of Ireland on its maiden run North and South of the border. Weather conditions were mixed but everyone enjoyed despite the long and undulating stages.
Former pro cyclist and renowned British coach Dave Ilyod congratulated the Blazing Saddles on the event. “This was without doubt the best organised and superbly run cycle challenge I have participated in since I rode professionally. Great credit to NCBI Blazing Saddles and to Director Sportif Eamon Duffy. We’ll be back for more next year!”
