Yeats County Challenge
Sunday 3Ist August the Innisfree Wheelers Club in Sligo host their first Yeats Country Challenge. There will be an option of two routes on the day of the event to cater for all levels of leisure cyclists. The options will be 85km and 150 km routes. Both routes stay together for the first fifty kilometres at which the 85km group will return to Sligo and the 150 km group will head north towards Bundoran to eventually loop back to Sligo. Both routes are over an undulating course with no serious climbs and well within the reach of all Leisure Cyclists.Along with this the route takes in some of the most scenic parts of the North West and therefore well worth considering a must do event. You will certainly receive a warm welcome from this young Sligo Club.Details of the event can be obtained from
ww.innisfreewheelers.com or by contacting the Club Secretary John Greene at 086-1005219.
Entry forms are available to download from the site.

  The Rat Race
The Rat Race reaches Ireland. The much-loved event, having experienced runaway success in Britain, is now set to reach the shores of the Emerald Isle with 2 new and exciting events planned for Galway and Belfast this summer.
- Coming to Belfast for the first time and operating from an event base at City Hall on 09th August, the Rat Race sees competitors running, biking, kayaking, abseiling, climbing and navigating their way around the city in a course that is only revealed hours before they begin. Previous events have taken place in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh and 2008 sees the inaugural Belfast race lay solid foundations to become an annual event in the city. Although the course is kept a closely guarded secret until the eve of the event, the local Rat Race planners, led by AR legend Brian Elliott, have been hard at work finding the very best the city has to offer for this unique challenge.
