For more details visit the new Rás website >> www.fbdmilkras.com FBD MILK RÁS DETAILS - 20 major mountain climbs, a marathon 192 km from Oughterard to Listown and a new finishing circuit in Dublin are the highlights of this year's FBD Milk Rás which starts from Dublin on May 20. The route will bring the field of over 150 riders from Dublin to Longford, Newport, Oughterard, Listowel, Kenmare, Mitchelstown, Enniscorthy, Tullow and back to Dublin on May 28. Three stages will be in excess of 160km each and the riders will have to tackle four major climbs. PRESS RELEASES FBD Milk Rás News Release: (Apr 28) With three weeks to go to the start of the FBD Milk Ras, it has been announced that teams from Estonia and Latvia have been added to the line-up. After placing sixth in 1998, Sigvard Kukk returns as leader of a strong Estonian team, while Armanos Baranovskis captain the Latvian quintet. The two Eastern European teams join squads already confirmed from Germany, Egypt, Holland, England, Scotland and Wales for the May 20 start in Dublin. The Irish challenge is led by 38-yr-old Philip Cassidy, who is aiming to be only the third rider to successfully defend the title. GERMAN TEAM for FBD Rás (Apr 18) The powerful German Telecom amateur team has been added to the line-up of the FBD Milk Ras which gets underway from the GPO in Dublin on May 20. The Telecom team is closely associated with Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich, however, he will not be taking part in the race. The German's four riders include David Kopp, Tilo Schuler, Stefan Kink, Gregor Willwohl and Ronny Jahn. Germany now joins the Netherlands and Egypt in the line-up with at least three more teams still to be confirmed. Egypt is the second country to confirm its participation (Apr 13) in this year's FBD Milk Ras which takes place from May 20 - 28. Last week the Netherlands named a powerful squad which includes last year's points winner Pelle Kil. While the final line-up of international teams is not yet finished it is expected that at least another five countries will be included The team to represent Ireland will be selected within the next two weeks. Dutch team return for FBD Milk Ras: (Apr 2) After winning six stages in 1999, a strong Dutch team will return to the FBD Milk Ras this year with aspirations of overall victory. The team will be led by aspiring professional Erik Dagelet, who impressed greatly last year by finishing 8th in his first stage race. Last year's green jersey winner, Pelle Kil will also be part of the Team Energiewacht squad and will be aiming to improve on his 1999 stage win. Jeroen Slagter, Benn Helmers and Eugene Kool will complete the quintet. The Milk Ras runs from May 20-28.
